I-35 is too important to ignore. As such, the Texas Department of Transportation along with the City of Austin, the Capital Metropolitan Planning Organization and other transportation partners is working to identify strategies to improve I-35. Beginning in August 2011 and initially focusing on Travis County, the program team engaged the public and other governmental entities to explore potential short- and mid-term mobility improvements. More recently, the effort has expanded into Williamson and Hays counties. Currently, the I-35 corridor, encompassing the area between SH 130 (north of Georgetown) and Posey Road (south of San Marcos), is being evaluated. Successfully implementing improvements identified through this effort requires public input and support.
This site provides information on the I-35 Capital Area Improvement Program. You can also follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TxDOT and Twitter @TxDOTAustin . We've collected your ideas, now give us your feedback on a study that will analyze the seven-mile segment of I-35 from north of State Highway 130 to just south of RM 1431.
